The intent behind this concept is to maintain a light environmental footprint while bringing light and life to a site in Providence that is completely paved. Given that part of the ground floor of the current structure is below ground, it receives minimal natural light. The radical insertion of an “anti-column” (or ‘terrarium’) compensates for these issues.

This concept hypothetically chooses Dutch textile artist Claudy Jongstra as a client and assumes she will use the structure as one of many in a global network of studios and residences.
